Boys basketball: John Jay falls to North Salem

The John Jay boys basketball team ended its regular season on Tuesday night with its second loss to North Salem in four days — this time a lopsided 61-39 decision at home.

The visiting Tigers outscored John Jay 41-11 in the second and third quarters to turn a 14-5 deficit after one quarter into a 46-25 lead after three.

Joey Tunas led North Salem with 20 points and Umar Singh had 17 points and 14 rebounds.

For the Indians (5-12), Matt Bernstein and Joe Kells led the way with six points each, while Jack Paccione and Scott Owen scored five points each.

Nick Kiger, Will Jahn and Jack Weiller had four points each, and Matt Stroud and Matt Palaccio scored three points each.

Paccione, Jahn and Kiger each pulled down seven rebounds, and Kells had five rebounds.
