Senior shopping trips cut in half

As part of cuts to the 2013 Parks & Recreation Department budget, the senior bus is now making only one shopping trip per week instead of the traditional two. The 2013 town budget reduced the hours of senior bus driver Laurie Wiegand, who had always taken seniors on shopping and grocery trips on Mondays and Fridays. Those trips are no more, though, and have been replaced with combined shopping/grocery trips on Tuesdays. The trips, which average about seven to 10 seniors, now include stops at a grocery store and a department store on the same trip.
