The John Jay hockey team is back in the section championship game for the first time since 2007 after the Indians defeated defending champ Pelham 5-3 in the Section 1 Division 2 semifinals on Friday night at Brewster Ice Arena.
The Indians (20-1-1) play Rye in the finals on Sunday at 1, also in Brewster.
The Indians jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first period, on goals by Lucas Prestamo, Mark Leprine, Frazier Bostwick and Anthony Manno.
John Jay made it 5-1 midway through the second period as Leprine set up Jack Grimm for a goal on a two-on-one break.
