Ski teams win Section 1 league championships

Jack Marschke was the overall race winner on Thursday to lead the North Salem-John Jay boys ski team to the Section 1 league championship over Yorktown at Thunder Ridge Ski Area in Patterson.

The North Salem-John boys and girls ski teams both won Section 1 league championships on Thursday at Thunder Ridge, as both teams (winners of the North League) defeated South League champ Yorktown.

Both teams capped off undefeated seasons.

The boys team had a team time of 179.96 to Yorktown’s 183.47.

Jack Marschke was the overall winner with a best run of 34.28, while Trace Beyer was third (35.76) and Scott Michaels fourth (35.83).

Dakota Adamec was part of a strong showing by the North Salem-John Jay girls ski team, which had six of the top seven finishers to beat Yorktown on Thursday for the Section 1 league championship. Adamec finished third overall.

Rounding out the top ten finishers for North Salem were Andrew Marderstein (36.66), Ryan Reinke (37.43) and Ryan Ledwith (37.82).

The girls beat Yorktown, 148.69 to 160.73.

Emily Concialdi of Yorktown was first overall with a time of 29.91, but North Salem had the next six finishers with Helen Eifert (second, 27.0), Dakota Adamec (third, 28.63), Alannah Freyer (fourth, 30.49), Bonnie Singh (fifth, 30.7), Brianna Caleri (sixth, 31.87) and Alice Levy (seventh, 32.25).
