Sarah Lang scored a career-high 26 points and also pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the John Jay girls basketball team to a 50-44 win over Roy C. Ketcham High School on Monday in Wappingers Falls.
It was the fourth straight win, in a span of seven days, for the Indians, who are now 11-8 with one game to go in the regular season.
The final game is on Thursday at home against Somers (6 p.m.). John Jay, which is 6-1 in league play, can wrap up the league title with a win. The Indians haven’t won a league title since 2006, when they tied for the League I-D crown.
On Monday, 1-15 Ketcham gave John Jay all it could handle as the Indians never led by more than seven points.
“It was a tough game. We were a little sluggish but they gutted it out,” said coach Greg Blake, adding that Lang proved too much for Ketcham in the paint.
“She was just incredible inside. They had no answer for her. They couldn’t stop her,” he said of Lang, who also sank six of eight free throws.
Sydney Glenn also hit for double figures with 11 points, while Delaney Spencer had six points and Molly Newcomb five points. Sasha Puglisi added two points.
Lexus Moore led Ketcham with 13 points.
