Obituary: Wanda Hanlin Pinchbeck, 82, library volunteer

Wanda Hanlin Pinchbeck, a former South Salem resident, died on Sunday, Jan. 27. She was 82.

Ms. Pinchbeck was born on Jan. 27, 1931, in Derry, Pa., to the late Harrison and Mary Myrtle Hanlin.

She graduated from Derry High School and later spent many years in South Salem, where she was a longtime volunteer for the South Salem Library and an active member of the South Salem Presbyterian Church.

Ms. Pinchbeck is survived by her daughter, Deborah Garber, and her husband, Peter, of Vero Beach, Fla. and Wilton, Conn.; daughter, Jane Scott, and her husband, Edward, of Bethel; son, John Pinchbeck, of Norwalk, Conn.; and grandchildren, Edward Scott Jr., Lisa Scott, Pamela Garber, Emily Garber, Jeffrey Garber and Kelly Pinchbeck. She was predeceased by her husband, William I. Pinchbeck; brothers, Edward, Donald and Wilbert Hanlin; and sisters, Stella Ament and Edith Ryan.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service at Bedford Union Cemetery in Bedford, N.Y. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Bethel Public Library, 189 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, CT 06801 or to the First Congregational Church of Bethel, 46 Main St., Bethel CT 06801.
