Letter: Move forward with Ripperger

To the Editor:

I was sorry to read that Highway Superintendent Peter Ripperger once again faces a primary for the Republican nomination to run for another term.

During his term in office, Mr. Ripperger has been pro-active in managing Lewisboro’s roads through very difficult financial times. He has sought expert advice from the Cornell Local Roads Program, and he began a multi-year program to both rehabilitate and maintain the town’s roads in a fiscally responsible manner.

The town needs to keep moving forward with that plan, and Mr. Ripperger is key to its success.

To rely on two apparatchiks such as Ms. Vasi and Ms. Cory to mask the horrible job Mr. Ripperger has done to maintain our roads and stop the pollution of our lakes is a sign of desperation.
Lewisboro is not the old Soviet Union where party bosses made all the decisions. You can’t blame these ladies for trying as they are of that same mindset and vintage.

It is funny how before your max pensions vested you and Ms. Corey supported
Steve Hill for three terms as superintendent of highways. Even when he lost his
fourth try in a three-way race you supported him again.

    I guess the
current cross endorsements of all incumbents is an easier way to ensure health
coverage for the party faithful and move quietly towards vesting.
