The Westchester Soccer Referee Organization is offering a certification course at the Goldens Bridge Community House. The course will be held on Sunday, Dec. 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for those 14 years or older to referee games in the Westchester Youth Soccer League.
Certification allows individuals to officiate travel team matches up through the fifth grade. Certified refs are paid $39 for third and fourth grade travel games and $44 for fifth grade travel games.
The Grade 9 course consists of a seven-hour class followed by a certification exam. The course fee, $142, includes United States Soccer Federation registration for the upcoming year as well as WSRO dues, plus a full uniform with two shirts, whistle, line flags and a carrying bag.
Registration for the course is online at www.sportssignup.com/wsroref.start.
There will be courses being offered elsewhere in the New York area. Check the www.wsroref.com and www.eny-soccer-referees.org web sites for additional courses. If you do take a course elsewhere, please let the WSRO know so they can add you to its referee roster for assignments and information.
Questions can be sent to Drew Hoffman, secretary of the Lewisboro Soccer Club, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
